Mcpixel Pewdiepie
I’m about to delve into a topic I know very little about, so forgive me if I do not do the gaming culture the proper justice. Truth be told, my last experience with video games was playing NintenDogs on my D.S. back in fifth grade, but I will try my best. It is no secret that a substantial portion of YouTube traffic is directed to the gaming world. One of the most successful of these YouTube channels belongs to a Swedish video game commentator, Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg .
Kjellberg is the currently the highest paid You-Tuber in the world, earning an estimated 4 million dollars a year on ads alone. The Swedish video game commentator goes by the online alias, PewDiePie. He started making his videos five years ago when he was 19, while still in University. His videos are essentially him playing games while talking (and screaming and swearing), and it’s earned him more than 35 million subscribers. Initially, he was known for playing a range of horror and action video games, most notably Amnesia: The Dark Descent and its related mods. In 2014, PewDiePie decided begin more actively play games that interested him, regardless if they fit horror genre or not.
His work is by no means polished, but he does it by himself and his success lies in the fact that he gives his target audience what it wants. He interacts with his fans on social media and gives personalized attention. His “Let’s Play” videos are different from conventional walk through videos, as it gives him the opportunity to have a “bro” moment with his “Bro Army.” Many people of the younger generation find him to be an even greater influence than most popular celebrities, and PewDiePie says that the computer screen brings him and his fans together as friends. Despite his popularity, he still has his share of haters. Many struggle to understand his fame and appeal, and find him to be rather crude, annoying, and an “inexplicable phenomenon.”
Hail zone (0px-32px) - McPixel will reach up for the item placed here. Ballkick zone (64px-80px) - McPixel will align his feet position with that of the NPC and ballkick him. Tiny tower hack. Also, the crosshair in the creator will point to NPCs balls, instead of.
There is no denying the huge influence Kjellberg has on the gaming industry. His commentaries have a massively positive effect on the sales of indie games. One game, McPixel, was struggling to make much in revenue until PewDiePie did a “Let’s Play” video on it. After that McPixel has to quickly put more games on stock, as their game was coming off the shelves faster than imaginable. Although the games featured on his channel have achieved commercial success, Kjellberg has stated several times that he just wants to play games, not influence sales. There is an integrity to this that makes me realize where his massive popularity comes from.
With the massive growth and immense popularity of video game technology and culture, the future of the gaming world looks very bright. And no doubt PewDiePie will be there at the forefront.
